Image Management Made Easy

If you can't find an image, you can't license it. Being able to quickly locate an image that fits your client's needs could make all the difference between making a sale and losing one. The imageLog helps you manage your digital images as well as any film archives you may have.

For many photographers, deciding on how to name or number images has been a daunting task. The fotoBiz imageLog lets you catalog, cross-reference and label your images. If you use the program’s tracking number when you invoice your stock photography sales the total sales for each image will be calculated automatically. If you assign the images to one of your stock productions, fotoBiz will also tell you how much you have made from all images from that production.

Finding your images is critical to making the sale. Creating keywords in fotoBiz is simple with our built-in controlled vocabulary, the Keyword Composer™.

There are three screen formats in which to view and work with your images.

The Digital View

• Import entire folders of images.
• Batch caption folders of images.
• Create thumbnails in two sizes.
• Import IPTC and EXIF data to be used to create keywords.
• You can enter or modify the image description, a convenient way of captioning digital images.
• Create notes to remind yourself about important information about the image.
• Create electronic thumbnail proofs for your clients.*
• Open the original image in Photoshop or most other image editors, or simply view originals in the fotoBiz Viewer.
• Copy the thumbnail to the clipboard to send to your client.

The Log View

• Enter and edit information about your images.
• The imageLog creates a unique tracking number for each image.
• The keywording feature of the imageLog makes it easy to find the type of image your client needs.
• Track earnings.
• Create a license renewal email for your client.
• View sales history.
• Copy an image to enter similar images or create multiple slide labels for dupes of film images.
• Assign the image to a Stock Production and track sales.
• Generate a custom user ID code.

The List View

There are four List View screens in fotoBiz 2.0, Standard, Digital, Thumbnail and Edit. All are designed to help you work with groups of images.

• Show, Find and Sort earnings.
• Search for a group of images by keyword.
• Display digital images with a stored path to the original.
• Create electronic contact sheets.*
• Create and log copyright submissions.
• Sort by path, size, and file.
• Quickly open your original image in the imageLog viewer.
• Re-Import your digital image or refresh the path to an image without creating a new record. This is a useful feature if you have edited, or moved your original image.
• Make a copy of your original image for a submission. You can keep the same file format or convert the image from one format to another as the copy is being made.

Image Keywording

The more time you take to carefully keyword your images, the more accurate you’ll be when preparing a submission, or cataloging images, and the easier it will be to find your images later.

Keyword Builder:
Use the Keyword Builder feature to automatically build keywords for images using your existing data for the image: captions, descriptions, as well as any IPTC captions/descriptions and keywords that are already embedded in your images.

The Keyword Builder utilizes your existing metadata to help you build additional keywords for your images.

Keyword Composer™:
The Keyword Composer is a built-in controlled vocabulary for keywording images. To fine-tune your keywords, select keywords from a list of thousands of words in different categories. You can also add your own categories and keywords including synonyms.

These keywording features in fotobiz are very fast, powerful and easy to use. Simply type in a keyword or keywords in the imageLog and fotoBiz will locate those images for you. Finding images for submissions has never been easier!

Image Copyright Protection

Now more than ever, copyright is of critical importance to photographers. The imageLog makes it easy for you to automatically create and log copyright submissions with pages of thumbnails.

Tracking Image License Expiration Dates

Search for images with licenses set to expire within a certain time period. This valuable feature not only finds the images for you, it also helps you quickly create an email to your client. You can remind the client that the license is about to expire and give them the option to renew it. This can be a good source of revenue with little effort on your part.

*The Mac has the ability to make PDF's built into the operating system, Windows users may need to use a utility that creates PDF's to take full advantage of the digital submission features build into fotoBiz. There are free or low cost utilities available on the web if your version of Windows doesn't include a PDF builder.
